This is primarily a collection of Canadian military photographs taken in Belgium and France during World War I. There are a few Canadian military photographs taken of the D-Day invasion of France during World War II. There are some photographs taken after the wars of the memorials, parks and cemeteries that were created in France and Belgium to honour the sacrifice of the Canadian and Newfoundland soldiers.

Warning: These war photographs include pictures of dead and injured soldiers. Their bodies are fully clothed. There are no scenes showing bloody guts and gore like you might expect to see in some movies and television shows. These war time photographs are black and white which tends to make blood invisible.
