Triangles and Pyramids for 125 Colours

=== by Bob Sutherland ===

This page has the 16 original named colours of HTML plus 109 additional colours for a total of 125 colours. The colours are created by using all possible RGB colour code combinations of the hexadecimal numbers FF C0 80 40 00.

Using mathematical patterns I found in the RGB values I have broken the total chart of 125 colours up into many smaller charts. The three digits in square brackets at the end of each title provide a hint as to the RGB hexadecimal number sequence in that chart.

Every triangle or pyramid shaped chart on this page appeared as a single column in charts 5 or 6 on the 16 + 109 = 125 Colours page.

Three RGB values are equal

Three RGB values are different - Cascading Triangles

Six distinct cascading triangles can be made from the colours in this section.

Each cascading triangle is displayed twice (a & b) with the colours arranged in different patterns.

If you are an abstract thinker then the cascading triangles actually form a three dimensional pyramid by stacking the triangles one above the other from largest (3x3x3) on the bottom to smallest (1x1x1) at the top.

Three RGB values are different - Pyramids

Here I am using exactly the same colours as I used above for the cascading triangles but I am trying to display them in their natural arrangement of three dimensional triangle base pyramids.

In this section I have drawn two triangular sides of each pyramid showing them attached together. I then rotate the pyramid around to draw the other two triangular sides attached together.

The one colour in the left hand column of each drawing is the left over colour that normally would be hidden from view on the far side of the pyramid.

With a pyramid this small all of the colours are located along the edges. Since you can see 5 out of 6 of the edges and all four vertices (points) that is why there is only one colour hidden from view in my charts showing two attached triangular sides of the pyramids.
